Been driving a PH for a month or so now and really think its the job for me. So i've been looking about getting quotes ect to buy and plate my own car rather than paying £160 a week to use the company one. Got a good deal on a 56reg Vectra CDTi all the extras blah blah blah. Phoned the LA who have no problem plating the car. however I phoned swinton to insure the thing and they quoted me £5,590.

I'm 25, got 7 years normal car no claims, clean license and no criminal convictions. WTF?

Can anyone recommend somewhere that won't require me to re-mortgage my house?

Try our links page;

and this months trade mags;

Spend a day if need be ringing around, but in time it will go down. :roll:

There are a couple of companies that now do weekly payment, so even that might be an idea for the short term. :wink:

Shoudnt pay any more than a grand and a half - also pay monthly rather than over 3 months etc in case you decide to leave PH and the insurance have got the full monty from you !

Dont know who GPH will be with - to be honest dont think it will make much difference . The old insurance will be quite high any way but try Laurie Ross can sometimes haggle a wee bit with them ie such and such is offering me this price etc

You could use some of your private ncb to reduce your premiums with most companies, split it down the middle and you could save a packet and end up paying about £800 to start off.

After driving as a PH percentage driver for 2 years and then deciding to buy my own vehicle in November 2006, Swinton quoted me £2,200 for my first year.
I found an insurer elsewhere for £1,500 and then Swinton offered to match it, but I still took the other insurers offer.

I'm 37 and I've never had any criminal convictions or claims. Unfortunately I didn't have any NCB as I've always been on the wife's insurance as a named driver for 12 years :roll:

Just the other day, Swinton called me and offered my second year as £900 with the 1 years NCB I've accumulated.
I'm now going to wait for my current insurers renewal and also shop around again.

I'm still expecting Swinton to add a 1 on that figure :lol:
