Go to Halfords and get on of those seat massage things, I've had 5 operations on my back after a accident down the mines some years ago, they are £20 and plug into your Ciggie lighter in the car, they have 4 programmes for you to set as you please. It made me a bit easier.

Yeah Halfords are good for things like that.

softer rear springs may be better in that case. with a soft seat you may be tempted to go faster over the bump and kill your suspension. or knock out the passenger as their heads hit the roof

A good mechanical suspension seat will absorb the speed bumps and if you set it quite stiff it will take out all the large bumps but not bounce all the time over the small ones therfore you will not push the vehicle any faster and upset the passengers. The suspension seat are great but you can still feel the road, they do not isolate you completely. Three years ago the seat in my Metro was getting a bit lumpy. So I thought it was time to renew it.
Looking around the usual Cab places they were asking prices from £200 for a second hand one to £400+ for new.
I ended up in Halfords, saw a Corbeau GT rally seat. I measured it and it would fit. Cost me £150 including a pump-up back. Still very comfy.
