If anyone has a 2014 Merc with the 651 BlueTec engine and Mercedes haven't been in touch, I strongly advise you pop down to your local dealership asap. There is a problem with a washer on the cam chain tensioner apparently and there are 70 odd thousand vehicles to be recalled in the UK alone.Funny then that I can only find details of a US recall so far....

I had the misfortune of having my 6 month old Vito seize up on me 2 days after Xmas. Luckily I was well treated by Mertrux Derby and they had me back on the road inside a week with a new engine fitted. Looking on the bright side it's wiped out the 45,000 miles I'd done but it really is poor on Mercedes part. The first recall news item I found was 18th December in the States so why so slow here?

So that's 3 Vito's I've had since 2008. The first caught fire after 9 months and now this.Good job I love them really, though the middle one had done 355000 without much of a problem.

Anyone know if I have any chance of pursuing Mercedes for any losses incurred?

Cheers

A few years ago a guy had a Skoda do the same as yours did, the engine went down after 50,000 miles "before Christmas." He was off the road for two weeks because of the Christmas break. When he got it back on the road Skoda gave him £1,200 and like you he got a brand new engine.
