LTI launches new entry price taxi cab

LTI Vehicles, manufacturers of the purpose-built London black taxi, introduced a new entry price limited edition model at the annual Private Hire and Taxi Exhibition held at Sandown Park, Surrey this week.

Announcing the new TXII Driver variant, Matthew Cheyne, Sales and Marketing Director for LTI Vehicles said; "We have adjusted the specification of non-essential equipment so the new TXII Driver derivative can be priced at a very competitive £24,995. This now allows licensed owners of older black cabs or taxi conversions to move easily to owning and running a high profile, latest model, purpose built black cab which meets the trade’s Conditions of Fitness regulations".

Yes, one thinks Mann and Overton have taken to posting entries onto this forum :x . . . . Sorry gents but the alternative IS coming to London, and no its not Metrocab . . . . . talking of which has anyone anywhere seen a new production one since they 'started' production again?? No? Roll on a bit of competition . . . Mind you it will leave a few at the PCO out of pocket

Few eyebrows being raised in the area, from the rumours, company was in dire straits,to this, looks like the company is going to ruffle a few feathers.
D.Young ell presidento, says there will be 50 on the road before Christmas, with another 50 going on early next year

Lets hope Tayside Fire Brigade are avaiable for them . . .

I don't think that any LTI Agent would try and push their products on TDO. However I think that post was a press release picked up by a member.

It would seem that LTI are listening to those that bemoan the price of their vehicles, but you have to wonder why 50 people will pay the proper price, whilst thousands pay the inflated price.

I also wonder if the lower price will be the norm once Red Ken has made his decision.

I don't think that the price is everything, it's what you get for that price which matters.

Some top of the range exec cars are £50,000+, but for that you get £50,000+ worth of motor.

The problem with LTI is that for £30,000+ you don't get such items as airbags and ABS brakes.

Now if that's the way LTI view drivers safety, then you have to wonder what they have done to get it to £25,000.

But you are right, we should be pleased they have reduced the price. However to me it's clear evidence that soon the PCO will get rid of mandatory turning circles.
Was speaking to one of the TX11 reps, not all areas in UK will be getting these and he says that to get the vehicle down to the price quoted,it will be the bare essentials only on this vehicle, but was pointed out,WHAT CAN THEY TAKE OUT!.Think it is just a sales ploy,as the E7,s and others are eating into their share of the market.

.

the current bottom of the range TXII Bronze has:
• Black (solid) paint
• Black energy-absorbing bumpers
• Black surround radiator grille
• Electric windows front and rear
• Electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors
• Rear wash/wipe with single speed intermittent wipe
• Driver's seat - plain velour
• Driver's seat head restraint (A frame)
• Passenger seats in easy clean PVC
• Integral cup holder and stowage net
• Black instrument surround
• Carpeted passenger compartment
• PATS vehicle immobiliser with radio key
• Radio cassette with mute and front door speakers
• Manual radio aerial
• ‘Door open’ warning indicator
• ‘Wheelchair seat belt not secured’ warning indicator
• Removable coded ICE front panel
• Remote central locking of doors
• Tinted glass
• Boot light
• Driver's door stowage bin
• Lights on warning alarm
• Rear courtesy vanity mirror
• Child seat
• Induction loop
• Swivel seat
• Twin rear fog and reversing lights
• High-level third brake light
• Heated rear window with timed cut-out

so out of that list what are they going to ditch to make the price £25K? It's all fairly basic stuff that you would expect to get as standard in even a cheap new car these days (apart from the taxi stuff obviously)

First of all, this cab is manual - the auto version is £26,995. What is missing from the package is as follows......Anything else that people know of? The items not included I am sure are available as an extra.

Rear wash/wipe,
Radio/Cassette, ariel and speakers,
The warrenty is a single year AND not 3 as on other cabs.

Is that it?

thats what i think. they've relised that they are biting the hand that feeds them with the old price, and the competition is getting a look in.

so knock a couple of grand off, and call it a lower spec model so the lads who just paid £30K for the same thing dont get p*ssed off.
