It depends if you have the car 24/7, if so then that rent isn't too bad.

If you do buy a car, then buy new if you can, or keep a stash of cash if you can't.

Nothing worse than the car breaking down and you can't afford to get it fixed.

I looking at something like a Ford galaxy or vaulkswagen sharan but they seem to cost a lot more than a regular car. Seems to me that it kind of defeats the purpose to spend an extra 7 grand or so, as the reason I want a bigger car is to get more work

Don't really fancy renting my car out as I don't trust someone to look after it

I've been looking at cab direct and the auris hybrid. Looks good and heard it's very economical. Is it worth buying brand new and getting the 100k miles warranty or better value to buy a couple of years old

To small, not enough boot space

We have the diesel version. There is plenty of boot space. The back seat is a bit snug for 3 adults.

I've had the touring hybrid for a year now, absolutely brilliant can't fault it.
Boot space is fine, not quite as deep as a Mondeos but wheelchairs/walking frames fit no problem. Rear leg room doesn't look that spacious (less than a mondeos) but no-ones complained or struggled to get in or out.

I'd say get a new one, the version I got cost £90pw from Cab Direct - but I've halved my fuel costs so the extra I'm having to pay is really only £40pw. You'll also save on maintenance costs over the years as there's not much to go wrong, no alternator, drive belts, starter motor, clutch, flywheel - it's basically an oil change every 10k. Plus Toyotas are very reliable.

Get loads of compliments from punters about how nice the car is, comfortable, smooth, quiet. Never had that in any other vehicle I've owned. Owners round here are still buying all sorts of second hand cars (not so many mondeos and skodas though) but all the new cars I see are Auris hybrids and all the drivers I speak to love them and none have had any issues or problems.

How much is this Toyota of which you speak?

Why settle for anything less

£75/week.....

55 to 65 mpg....£30/yr RFL

bags of legroom, too much in fact

Anyone has a Peugeot 5008? Can pick up an older one for under 6k. Might do me for a couple of years. Not planning on being a taxi driver for the long term so don't want to invest too much

Yes we have one. We have had it just over 3 years. It has been OK. Parts can be a bit steep though.
