not rolling in it my friend ....

work long hrs thou...7am-1am...

3am on sat nites....

getting a lot of contract work...taxi(punter) side of it is minimal ....just the way i like it.

1 contract pays for the car & insurance every month.
the other goes in the bank.
and the taxi work gives me a wage every wk  .

work like the rest of the p/h guys....maybe a bit longer cause i work for myself .

Anyway, I think the 130 bhp unit may have been a bit underpowered, but surely not nearly as thirsty as the V6?

But I would rather have the thirst of the V6 but with the power there.

Rather than the thirst of the 130 with a lack of power.

( if you get my meaning  )

I agree to some extent, but on the other hand given the price of fuel and now that diesel's a bit dearer than unleaded then you have to call it a day some at some point as regards going for more power.

I'm surprised you describe the 130bhp Superb as thirsty because if I remember correctly the official figures show over 60 mpg on the extra-urban cycle, which is about as good as it gets on a car of that size. My recollection also was that the V6 was a lot thirstier.

Of course, these official figures don't always work out in real world conditions.

first of all.

130bhp underpowered ? huh !.
4 in the car and it still flys up steep gradients with ease...and the pulling power between 40 70mph is good...more than enough to overtake with confidence .
put it this way...i can drive down to 30mph and speed back up to 70 without even changing gear....

couple this with 51.5 mpg on trip to glasgow the other wk....60mph on average speed....

only reason i will go for the 2.5tdi superb next time is.....
i like the growl you get off it...and yes, there is more power but less fuel consumption.....and i would get the auto box next time to.....even less mph but who cares

From the ones I've driven - in my opinion - yes mate.

Compared to the Mondeo - it is night and day power and economy wise.

And agin - the guys I know up here are complaining about high fuel economy (compared to their previous cars such as Passat, Vectra, Mondeo etc)

I agree on the 2.5 auto - a nicer tone plus a more relaxed drive.

Charlie

(By the way - I'm not putting the 130 Superb down by any means, just for ME - I would like more power for the mpg it gets according to the guys up here who sit in Glasgow traffic day in day out)

Hi folks

Does anyone know of any online places i can check for a new car?

thanks del

Try www.cargiant.co.uk. They are the cheapest and still have some good volvos or other quality cars at aroung 8k with mileage of around 70k. I bought a 53 octavia 65k miles for 7k from a local garage two wks ago and I am happy cos they gave me 1 yrs warranty.

Which is why it's best not to tell them.

And if you need warranty work done on it, when you take it back you will have to de-taxi/PH it.

I bought a car from our Mr clark franchise bought a passat turbo diesel. told the salesman i need it on the road fast as it my livelyhood. He said no problem had it plated on the road in 2days. Then 2weeks later i developed lack of power was into Mr clarks garage got it back next day it develpoed a fault next day same thing took it back got it fixed told them dont want this car want new one. No way the they will fix it they kept it for days after that got it back it was still no power I said want new car then they turned round said were not going to fix it again your warranty is invalid because it a private hire taxi. I dont want to go on to long but this went on for a month They said it was £950 for a turbo unit. Bearing i had this car on the road maybe just over 2 weeks. well i had to repair it myself another garage. There was nothing wrong with the turbo it was an air mass valve £60 i think. So i was of the road for a month but i pestered the clark garage in crow rd every day. And also sat in the customer area often and told all them about there aftercare So i would never go back to Mr clarks garage in crow rd. And never deal with the sales manager Mr ewart stay well clear  . This branch dont have a clue about aftersales, or volkswagen.
