I myself like the volkswagen passat tdi good on fuel ,parts are ok very comfortable to drive, responsive steering good sized boot for those glasgow airport runs. Not long bought this car on 51 plate for £6000 with 62000 miles on clock. If it will last like my previous phc toyota carina turbo diesel which i have retired from ph now with 500,000 miles and still runs great on a 1996 p plate i will be more than happy never had to do any work on the engine only usual repair,s 2 clutches rebuilt gearbox after 190,000 miles cant be bad. The other drivers on my rank keep asking is it for sale. But now the wife is got it it mileage is now down to 12mile a day good retirement. Service your car regular it will look after you :D :D :D

You haven't seen any as PHV's.

And you think you have thought of something before anyone else.

Just re read this and was going to keep Mum but questions have to be asked...........

Who wants beige leather seats for this industry?

E220? stretch for a E320, far far better car.

Why all these extras? TV's - that would drive me mad when driving.

I think you will find the guy who services and maintains his car properly also drives it properly too.

Merc's are not what they were, but customer perception of the brand is still very high.

Come on Ford, bring back the Ford Granada with the special taxi pack.

I have been driving a Superb for two months, 130BHP, auto box. Love it, but very thirsty.

I read that the build quality of the current E-class is a lot better than the last one?

The motoring press seems to think that quality did dip a few years ago, but the latest models are back towards previous standards.

Personally I think the basic the model the better, if you are not into bundles of exec work.

Each time I see a new gadget, my first thoughts are how much that's going to cost me when, not if, it goes tits up. :-$

But if you are happy with the motor and price, then go for it.

Yes, obviously a more spacious car, better quality etc is worth having, but I'm a bit dubious about some of the more outlandish new gadgets. For example:

- rain sensing wipers (is that in case you are so out of it that you're driving along and don't realise it's raining, or because the manufacturers think people can't be bothered flicking a switch?)

- powered tailgate, eg on the Honda Accord estate - quality motors, but somehow I think there might be reliability issues with the tailgate if you used it a lot.

- electronic handbrake, eg on the new Passat - applying this several times each time you moved up the rank, I would be just waiting for this to go wrong.

I'm not even that over keen on electric windows for the same reason, but of course they are useful for closing windows that others have left open, if not the driver's.

Ironically, I had a motor with electric front windows and wind-up rear windows, and the front windows always worked faultlessly, whereas one of the rear regulators siezed up and had to be replaced.

Such is life :?

You MINGER!!

My leather gets cleaned everyday when it's getting hoovered/washed/window etc ready for the next shift!

LOL

Ty Johnsons Baby wipes for the everyday cleaning - and a good leather cleaner and conditioner every month or so ( I use either Gliptone or Autoglym)

LOL

Try Back to Black on the rear seats for a laugh

I agree though, the Autoglym is good - but give the Gliptone a try (get it on Ebay)

Great cleaner, even better coinditioner - and it brings back the leather aroma every time.

I done mine with Gliptone on Monday there, and all this week the punters have been saying "this brand new driver"

LOL

Eh no, try 4 year old with 120,000!

Due to change soon, once I find something nice enough...

Skoda superb for me :) love the room inside the car, the power(ok, its chipped but thats another argument on another thread) , best car i have ran since i had a kreg vw passat td. As for the octavia, nothing wrong with these, and i know skoda dont make the sdi no more, but haven't skoda modified the gearbox since the early models?
