No he's not cheap, he won't be any good come Monday morning when I get a hold of him. I mean who the fuck puts silicone on the injectors instead of the metal clip? No wonder diesel was pissing out from injector 1 and 4, they both had silicone at the bottom of them which had melted due to the heat of the injectors.

Look out on Central News on Monday night, I might be up on a murder charge.

Think that's bad, had an alleged recon engine fitted, ran the car for 2 weeks, then it overheated, mechanic removed the head and found the surface scored, sent it away to be skimmed,, refitted and ran it for 3 weeks, 2 of them I was on holiday so car was a Newcastle airport, got in car hard to start, thought with it been sitting the fuel needed pumped back up from the tank, went to Castle Howard, and home NP, went out to work and at about 1.30 AM stopped car to give regular a shout , got back in hard to start kept it going , went out next morning hard to start, smell of diesel, took car to garage, number 4 injector away, ordered a replacement, that was delivered or so I thought on the Wednesday, and signed for, followed tracking, Friday the garage called where is the part, called delivery company, yes it was delivered, Where to garage hasn't got it, OH a bathroom company in Carlisle     so on to phone asked the parts place what address they put on it they read it out as the correct one , and will send another out

Why didn't you go to the local diesel place? I'm sure they would have them in stock.

Repairing and keeping a diesel in fettle is not the same as for a petrol engine and about 5 times the cost. which is what i gave up telling folk who only drove 5000 a miles year, that and the fact that
a) mpg figures are fantasy pure
b)diesel is dearer than petrol at the forecourt
c) diesel cars are 20% dearer to buy

Diesel engines USED to be more reliable and cheaper to fix if they did go wrong than petrol engines. You could have a diesel for ten years and never have to touch the engine at all, other than change the oil and cambelt.

Now with all the gubbins they have on them they're no more reliable than petrol, it's not the engines that break it's all the stuff attached to them - pumps, belts, sensors, control units. And when they do break the parts cost a fortune and its half a day stripping the engine just to get to the bit you need to replace.

The first diesel I owned had no electronics and everything was mechanically driven, about the only thing that could go wrong was the injectors and you could get them individually new for a tenner each and a fiver for a full set from a scrappys - and fit them all yourself in ten minutes !
