Sadly an all too common tale of woe, but twas ever thus?

One point, however, is that if buying a car with any kind of warranty it's probably best to ensure that the fact that it's being used as a taxi/PH will not invalidate the warranty. In fact, get it in writing if possible.

No doubt some salespeople will ingore the fact that the warranty may not cover cars used in the trade, but then the garage will be keen to point out the small print to you in the event of any claim.

If the taxi/PH issue is never mentioned an idea might be to agree on a price for the car then mention it - if they then say the warranty won't cover it then you can ask for a wodge off the agreed price :)

My problem was i paid for my volkswagen cash big mistake. The salesman knew i was buying the car for ph as he said there was no problem he will rush it through and i still had my warranty if anything happens in the few month of cover. But later on when questioned by boss he said he never new it was going on the road as a taxi. It was my word against him.

Take your 100bhp tdi Octavia to super chip and you will then have a 130 bhp one and 40% more tork and another 5 miles per gallon all for £450 and when they upgrade the chip no one will know only you all VW TDi engins can be done and you get a warenty

So the new warranty replaces the manufacturer's warranty that's invalidated? I doubt it.

No, they only cover the engine for the work that they do but your manufactures warranty still stands as they have no way of checking if the cars been chipped as the original chip is used and never removed from the ECU they just down load through the diagnostic port strait onto the chip. look at www.dieselcar.co.uk and see there advert I think there Addy is www.superchip.co.uk and see what can be done for all diesel users even green badge if he has a turbo in his tractor.
The 130 tdi becomes a 160 tdi and what ever the 2.5 is in bhp add 30 bhp.
This applies to all tdi engines just add 30 bhp to what ever bhp yours is now and go man go :D :D :D

So what you mean is that the warranty is still valid unless they find out?

So the manufacturer can't check what's on the reprogrammed chip? Sounds unlikely to me.

I can confirm this is true, my 100pd classic superb was chipped and recorded 132bhp and 227lbs of torque on a rolling road. Its a flying machine now 8)

Personally, I would just buy the bigger engine in the first place for about the same money and power benefits.

That way, you retain your warranty

But as skippy said the vechile is still warrantied as the manufacturer cant tell its been chipped. The company who chipped and service my superb(a vw specialist) have sent my car back to vw twice for warranty work with no problems. Even if vw plugged into the vechile port all they will find is the vechile fault codes, it in no way jumps out and screams "hey, look at me iv been chipped"

So they only honour the warranty because you don't tell them? Very reassuring :?

So why didn't you just buy a 130bhp Superb to start with?

Why spend about 3k more for a bigger engine in your car, when all you have to do is shell out £500 for the same thing
Come on TDO read super chips bumf on the subject, basically what they are saying is if you have 1 of there chips fitted or yours up graded we will cover you if the proverbial hit the fan Its there in black and white.
and Sussex leave my wallet out of it I bought a round 10 years ago
