as i see it, the london trade get an annual rate rise in relation to several factors, one being running costs,so, surely if their all going to by conversions their running costs will fall, thus, rate rises will fall, meaning their total end of the month profit ( dirty word ) will be the same, so no better off.
has anyone seen the new e7 conversion for cab direct, apparently they can sell both hard and soft ice cream.
whats in a name ?????? lets see.........
how many councils would allow a full 7 passengers in an e7
next question.....
How many drivers would want 7 drunken passengers ?
i will stick to my five thank you very much !!!

Andy,
dont you ever give up?
so are we saying now that its just to fleace customers to pay for the expensive LTI?

yesNige I do keep asking why?
after 2 world wars on the back of protectionism, many many wars including that in Iraqu caused by cartels, how much more bloodshed have we got to have until the message gets home?

Nige, what happens in Manfield is up to you lads there there are no easy answers, but the continual running down of the trades suppliers is getting to such a stage that principles must come into play.

So Nige is there a Quick fix? no there is not! but you are making a local phenominion into a national one, and that is your big mistake

Only trying to keep people safe Geoff, and stop the drivers from making the same mistake I nearly made by buying one of these so called Taxis.

if thats the case dear Nigel I have misjudged you and am sorry, however I think you have been going well over the top,

disabled people traveling in wheelchairs in any vehicle do so under best practicable means, no disabled person travelling in any vehicle are not as safe as those belted in seats provided with the vehicle

A tx2 is no safer (or unsafe than any other type approved vehicle)

I never said they were Dear Geoff, I mearly said they weren't worth the money and full of faults, I know a wheelchair is no safer in a TX2 than it is in a PBV because the wheelchairs have not been tested with a dummy in crash conditions "no taxi has". People around the country who use wheelchairs are able to get into normal saloon type Taxis it has been proved.

I wonder why if the TXs are so safe, that both Hampshire and Surrey County Councils have specifically asked that they don't do their wheel chair account work, following a video nasty from the roads crash people?

But whether one chooses a TX, an E7 or any of the others. They should have that choice.

One last thing, if LTI were so concerned about safety, why has my mates brand new £1,500 down, £546 a month for 5 years  TX2, not got ABS or an airbag?

at the end of the day, we are here to earn a living, with as little hassle as possible, and i can tell you this for a fact, since ditching the eurotaxi and getting the tx2 i am having a lot less hassle, surely you cant ask for much more, we are never gonna be millionaires or respected for what we do, but life goes on !!!!!

I pleased Mr Guest, that it's now working for you.

However for the good of the trade, I believe we need competition between vehicle manufactures, to keep the prices down and the standards up.

When only one vehicle maker controls the lot, they get complacent, lasy and greedy.

Cos they don't go fast enough to need one.

This type of vehicle has never been of much interest to me.

However at Heathrow today I spotted a Peugeot Euro7 parked along the row from me. So I could understand this discussion better I went to inspect what all the fuss was about.

Just as I stuck my nose to the window the owner returned (scruffy git), I explained I was 'admiring' his truck and he kindly let me climb in the back and try it out.

Sorry, but what a pile of sh1te. This is the UK, still part of the modern world (just). That isn't the quality of vehicle we should be providing if we actually want the public to use our vehicles.

I actually think the LTI version is a little bit better (how many have air con fitted in the back?) but that is hardly a compliment.

I did travel in a Merc van conversion a year or two back and that seemed far more comfortable.

If we really are going to have a single tier, for christsake lets make sure we can all drive an E class Merc.

Do a degree Tom, I agree. :D

The Euro 7 isn't as good as Cab Direct say it is. But as you say, the Merc is very nice, and the new Carvalle looks good too.

Drivers are buying the E7 and the Jubilee, for the same reason as they are buying the Skodas i.e. money.

But what price do you think the TXs would be, if it wasn't for the likes of Cab Direct and Jubilee? In fact if it wasn't for them, there wouldn't be a TX1 and 2, LTI driver's would still be driving the Fairway.

Of course I did.

I just think the Euro7 is like so much in this trade. Designed to provide just about enough. You can't sit in the back and say that it has been designed with Passenger comfort in mind can you?

There is no way the vehicle is robust enough in its construction to do 250K miles without falling to bits, squeaking and rattling like an old tin can.

Yes, they may be cheaper to buy, but I wonder what the 'whole life' costs are compared to an LTI.

Trouble is they haven't really been around long enough to find out.

On the issue of comfort, they must have three tip up seats in the back?

They can't be up to much, they aren't even up to much in the LTI.
