LTI launches new entry price taxi cab

LTI Vehicles, manufacturers of the purpose-built London black taxi, introduced a new entry price limited edition model at the annual Private Hire and Taxi Exhibition held at Sandown Park, Surrey this week.

Announcing the new TXII Driver variant, Matthew Cheyne, Sales and Marketing Director for LTI Vehicles said; "We have adjusted the specification of non-essential equipment so the new TXII Driver derivative can be priced at a very competitive £24,995. This now allows licensed owners of older black cabs or taxi conversions to move easily to owning and running a high profile, latest model, purpose built black cab which meets the trade’s Conditions of Fitness regulations".

"Owners can also purchase The TXII Driver for just £99 per week using our Preferences finance option scheme" said Cheyne. Sales begin on 1 November 2004.

.

the current bottom of the range TXII Bronze has:
• Black (solid) paint
• Black energy-absorbing bumpers
• Black surround radiator grille
• Electric windows front and rear
• Electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors
• Rear wash/wipe with single speed intermittent wipe
• Driver's seat - plain velour
• Driver's seat head restraint (A frame)
• Passenger seats in easy clean PVC
• Integral cup holder and stowage net
• Black instrument surround
• Carpeted passenger compartment
• PATS vehicle immobiliser with radio key
• Radio cassette with mute and front door speakers
• Manual radio aerial
• ‘Door open’ warning indicator
• ‘Wheelchair seat belt not secured’ warning indicator
• Removable coded ICE front panel
• Remote central locking of doors
• Tinted glass
• Boot light
• Driver's door stowage bin
• Lights on warning alarm
• Rear courtesy vanity mirror
• Child seat
• Induction loop
• Swivel seat
• Twin rear fog and reversing lights
• High-level third brake light
• Heated rear window with timed cut-out

so out of that list what are they going to ditch to make the price £25K? It's all fairly basic stuff that you would expect to get as standard in even a cheap new car these days (apart from the taxi stuff obviously)

If your not interested in buying one steveo why the concern for what you get for your money.
Its more likely that they will do away with some things whose value doesn't relate to the reduction, and they will see how the sales of the "limited offer" vehicles go with a view to making the reduction perminant.

I can't believe, after the many calls on here for LTI to reduce prices people are complaining and critisising LTI for doing what they have called for.

I don't think that the price is everything, it's what you get for that price which matters.

Some top of the range exec cars are £50,000+, but for that you get £50,000+ worth of motor.

The problem with LTI is that for £30,000+ you don't get such items as airbags and ABS brakes.

Now if that's the way LTI view drivers safety, then you have to wonder what they have done to get it to £25,000.

But you are right, we should be pleased they have reduced the price. However to me it's clear evidence that soon the PCO will get rid of mandatory turning circles.

but after all of these years they have still not put in a proper connection for mobile data or radio equiopment.

they have not bothered about making it easy to install a two way radio antenna or gps antenna.

After years of suggesting things to them regarding 3rd party equipment that has to be fitted to these vehicles I just have too laugh at the idea that its a purpose built taxi, but god help you if you even suggest ideas too try and make it better.

Even Scania and Volvo are willing too listen to ideas with regards radio installations and have made various changes over the years.

LTi, they live in thier own dream world at times.

It is common practice among motor dealers to reduce the price when sales are sluggish and sales at Lti are sluggish.

perhaps the development costs are now covered, perhaps they need to restructure to get sales either way if they dont reduce they cannot survive.

Sales may be sluggish, but Dundee Private Hire, have purchased 30 TX11,
they go on the road from the end of this week.
Few eyebrows being raised in the area, from the rumours, company was in dire straits,to this, looks like the company is going to ruffle a few feathers.
D.Young ell presidento, says there will be 50 on the road before Christmas, with another 50 going on early next year.
Interesting times in Dundee, over to you Scot.
