The taxi driver had started his shift, picking up a customer from central rank.

as they were going along the passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder, the driver jumping out of his skin, mounted the pavement, comming to a halt sweating and pale.

"oh never touch me like that again, My last job was driving a herse but I was laid off, as people are living longer"

Our classic was the one where the driver spoke to the customer for about five minutes and got no reply, he then said to himself 'stuck up bitch' and shut up. Next thing was a call on the mobile from a colleague asking if it would not be better to have waited for the customer to have got in the car before driving off.
