Er, excuse my ignorance, but I've been reading some DDA stuff recently and obviously there's plenty talk about swivel seats in saloon HCs, and even in all PH.

I haven't seen a swivel seat in a saloon, I assume it replaces the whole front seat so you're just left with the back seat from the original car?

Down here about 10/15 years ago, some of the lads were given swivel seats as a testing freebie.

Yes it does replace the front passenger seat, which you keep until you sell the car on. Which I suppose will save on cleaning it up. :D

The freebies lasted about a year or so before the lads got rid. When I sat in them, they were as hard as nails, and you wouldn't want to go far sitting on them. Unless you like the John Wayne look.

From memory, they had about 3 or 4 customers that used the swivel in that time. And about a 100 moans from customers complaining about how uncomfortable they were.

Things might have changed since i.e. like a bit of extra padding. However if it's a toss up between them and an extra £10-15,000 on a motor, guess what most will choose?

That's of course if they get the choice. :?

I installed two on my fleet years ago.

Firstly they were uncomfortable in general.

Second they spoilt the look of the car because their design was very different.

Finally they were great in cars with low door steps because swivelled out nice and low. When we changed cars the next car (Granada i seem to think) had a four inch high door ledge. To swivel out over this ledge the seat was fitted so high a 5'5" passenger banged their head on the roof all journey.

Think I still have the two in the loft if any one wants one.

Sums up the product really.

Someone offering to give away 2 grands worth of stuff and nobody wants it for nothing.

I would keep hold of them - they may become more marketable in a few years time!!

Ooh Christ Didge.

I will have to look up in the loft to see if they survived the big clearout last year.

Will let you know if they did.
