I'm sure lots of people will think I'm nuts but I was considering getting and Audi A2 to put into services as a PH car. Small yes, but the leg room in the back is pretty impressive. The floor is lower in the rear whcih gives your legs room to drop down comfortably. Still it will only seat two across in the back seat, plus one in the front. Or should I go for a more traditional VW Sharan? A low mileage used one is about the same price as a newer A2. Views? PJ |

PJ the A2 is a small car. i'm considering an audi as my next car too but an A6. i doubt our council down here would even licence an A2 for PH work as it would be too small. remember you need to be able to fit 3 six foot rugby players in the back. i'm quite big and no disrespect but if you turned up at my house to pick me and the lads up, i'd be ringing you office and asking them to send a proper car!

PJ What bizarre alternatives
I suspect a car like the A2, which undoubtedly has it's merits, is one you would come to regret. If you want a VW/Audi group car, why not go for a Skoda Octavia or a Superb? Both are well built, and use VW parts, and are obviously competitively priced. The new Octavia is supposedly beatifully built (the old one isn't bad either!) has a humungous boot, and althought it's not mega-spacious, will beat the A2 hands down. Of course, there's still a bit of snob value that detracts from the marque, but this is slowly disappearing - those in the know are in the know(!), and those who don't know cars will just notice that it's a good, solid vehicle! |
