Taxi Driver Online

Can any of you skoda superb drivers or vw passat drivers give me an idea on what fuel consumption you get, either by miles per gallon or by how many miles you get on a tank.

When i got the car recently, it was a joy to drive, gliding all over, like all modern cars now, lift your foot off the accelerator and it would just carry on without a great loss in speed, more often now though, lift your foot off and the car drops speeed quickly, it feels like its draging and the fuel consumption goes into the thirties, problem is the car has been back to the dealers but it was running fine then, typical.

So i need to get an approximate idea of what mpg i should expect to obtain. I know this will reflect on how you drive it but i do not hammer the car.

might be coming up for a service there Derek, try a new air filter and see if that works. (or even take the current one out and drive it around the block to see if that makes a difference - but make sure you put it back in pronto)

problem is i have had the car for just one month from the dealers, it was reported to them in the first week, they stuck it on the diagnostic eqipment and said theres nothing wrong with it. When i got the car it had 8K on it, now it has 12K, they assured me that it had been serviced and put on variable service intervals, basically the car tells you when it wants serviced.

Do you have a TDi if so what mpg do you get

any other help appreciated.

i dont have a suburb. but i know a few (well four) driver on our fleet who do have them and i've heard them mention high 30's and low 40's for average MPG.

I have got some feed back and it seems that 45 mpg is a reasonable target, my car sometimes is only getting 35 to the gallon, and this is not pushing the car. Have to wait till a week on monday for the car to go back in (second time) but there is something wrong as the car will run well, nice and smooth but most of the time is feels like it is dragging a ton weight behind the car. There is a problem with all VW engines and that is the mass air flow sensore packs in and the turbo does not kick in, VW know of this problem and have stated that if the car is under warranty the dealer must change it for free if the car is out of warranty the unit will be changed at half price.
I had the same problem, but found the answer in diesel car.
I get anywhere from 44 to 65 miles per gallon 65 yes, I filled up just south of Parise and made it all the way back to the Scottish Borders 820 miles with a full boot 3 kids and a voice guidence system the wife

Thanks Skippy for your reply, the car has now been in the main dealers, we took another superb brand new out and it achieved the same figures as mine, but they decided to change the mass air flow meter then, the car came out and was runnig smoothly, the mpg did go up as well, before it averaged over a 1500 mile period 41mpg, for about 600 miles after that it went up to nearly 44mpg, it is driving better as well.

Its still not what i would call good economy unlike some drivers have reported with mpg going down to 36mpg in town work. According to the garage Skoda will not give typical mpg figures as they say it just depends on how you drive the car.

I forgot to ask is it the 100 bhp or the130bhp,
If its the 100 yes it will use more fuel because of the wait of the car,
NO GUYS im not calling the driver fat, WELL ROUNDED MAYBE but not fat
You have 2 fuel read out positions on the onbord computer keep it on the second one, thats the one that does not jump around keep a note of the average mpg, then do 3 full tank tests keeping a note of how many lieters or gallons you put in and do your sums then you can get the average mpg.
Also if you can give the car a work out keep it in second and give it welly this cleans the perverbial out of the system.
OK I have spoted my deliberate mistake not woke up yet, i will leave it on the post to see how alert you all are.

Just been to Wales. Before that the car again had gone tight, sluggish and the mpg dropped again to mid thirties but on the trip to Wales it performed much better, in fact on the way back did 55 mpg ave, i also managed to get 675 miles out of the tank and it took £50 to fill back up, basically all the way down to Wales and back up on one tank. Last night worked and it got 46mpg again not bad, just a pity it cannot maintain this.

I think the deliberate mistake was asking whether it was 100 or a 130
