They say that they are going for it, maybe 4 or 5 cars a week.

My metrocab has just finished it's sixth year of good service. The only people who knock them is those who have not tried them. Six years, and no sign of rust, no dented doors, kicked in by p*ssed up punters, and still years left in it. Would I buy another? Yes I would. I wouldn't been seen dead in a Bread van/ plumbers van.... The Metrocab Looks like a Taxi, drives like a Taxi, therefore IS a Taxi. And no, I do not work for them. This message will doubtless be followed by a smartass reply from a Private (Sussex?) Hire driver who thinks he drives a TAXI when in actual fact he has never driven one in his life. Poor saps can't tell the difference between a Hackney Carriage and a Private Hire Vehicle. |

Well according to Taxi Globe http://www.taxiglobe.com/506/TG506_p1.pdf they are in production.
It even gives a nice pic of the production line. But I'm not sure if they are making Metro Cabs, or Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs.

yes they are in production again, and I hope that they have got rid of the newmatic drill from under the bonet bloody ford right noisy and the gas recerculation valves a pain in the rear they keep cloging up and your cab looks like its joined the indians with all that smoke coming from the exhaust Now a VW engine would help them sell realy well and you could listen to Steve Wright and Johny Walker in peace ahhh we can still dreem but dreems do come true |

Now a VW engine would help them sell realy well and you could listen to Steve Wright and Johny Walker in peace ahhh we can still dreem but dreems do come true It's a ten second job to blank off the gas recirculation on the manifold. Like most other metrocab owners, I did it years ago, cures smoke, passes every time, no need for fuel additives either. As I keep trying to tell you, don't knock it 'till you've tried it. |

Do I "love" my Metrocab? More than I love the wife, but I loved my old metro more than that! I'd rather be a mush in a metro than a magpie in a montego, so thanks for the complement. |

So how many hackney drivers would rather drive a Metro (or a TX, come to that) given the choice? The evidence from around the country suggests that it's a lot less than 1%, so your preference makes you a bit of a maverick Jimbo. But I suspect you're being disingenuous, a bit like people who criticise the lack of posters on here, but when challenged about the moribund nature of their own forums, say that they didn't want people to post much anyway
