Usually it's from the heart, but this year is special because it comes from the brain. :D :D :D :D :D

Oh no, I know how bloody hard it is to get a Brighton license.

I will stay in my manor, although I suppose I could buy some Brighton HCs, get some drivers on, and kop the lot.

Ha ha ha ha... Your having a laugh there!! Shall we change that to:

....did yer hear about the salloon propietor in ANY TOWN* who says they dont want cabs as some disabled cannot get in?
then they go on to say they dont want wheelchairs cos they aint time?

The funny thing is that having mandatory WAVs, could be the saviour of the HC trade, following de-limitation.

So those that say it would be such a bad thing, will in a few years time, be saying that it is such a good thing.

Mark my words.

Methinks you have that the wrong way around Andy.

All WAVs, will be the savior of the PH trade, not the Hackney trade.

If the OFT report became law, it would lead to there being no need to license as a PH.

Unless.........

It was an all WAV town, when people would still keep PH going.

The OFT report has three main recommendations, no quantity controls, max fares, and better guidance on standards.

If we ignore the latter two, it leaves us with my good mate de-limit. :D

So if that happens, it will mean that all those with saloon PH cars could become saloon HCs, and many will, but most certainly not all. Especially in areas where PH drivers don't need a knowledge.

However if those that can have to buy a WAV, then many more will choose to stay PH. Some from the HC trade may also choose to go PH, rather than plate a WAV.

So in short perhaps both of us are right, there will be more work for those choosing to stay PH, but if drivers wish to license a HC, then they should decide, not some jumped up clue-less councillor.
