They're compulsory inmost of Europe and as the winters seem to be getting progressively worse, I'd say they're a great investment. For anyone thinking of getting a set then there are some discount vouchers for Halfords to be found here. |

I always stick Winter Tyres on my Cars and run them until they need Changing, They can be as cheap as or even cheaper than summer tyres and have good grip in the dry and work well in the wet. |

Thanks for the advice, Im not sure about the legalities concerning winter tyres, however I followed the above advice and bought some online, couldnt find any suitable from Halford though, I bought mine from TyreShopper using a discount code from this place instead. Thanks for the tip!!!

I put winter tyres on the fronts of my cars in 2012/13 and again 2013/14. Not much help this time round, but an absolute boon in the previous winter when it snowed. We were the ONLY firm working round here, and the only ones able to get round almost everywhere. Didn't bother with the rears as the cars are front wheel drive autos! |

Not working with any set-up, sorry to say. I've used winter tyres on the front only for the last 3 years now and not had any trouble with handling, even in blizzards and deep snow. The only time I lost the rear end on the Toyota hybrid was on a roundabout in a blizzard, but the front knew where it needed to go and it carried on going. Business trebles round here when it snows as most people don't know how to drive in it. |
