At a guess I would say its because its previously been used outside London or more likely used as a private car (weddings etc) and has never been plated for taxi use. Also I think it is is a Euro4 taxi and I thought all new taxi vehicle licenses in London must be Euro5 ?

but its a 2011 car, plus how can the seller say for sure its OK anywhere else?

According to TFL all new hackneys must be Euro 5 and I am sure this is a Euro 4.

They are allowed to licensed euros 4 as long as they are under 15 years, due to the extreme shortage of cabs available to rent

when he says "London", thats pretty big area, does he just mean certain boroughs/LA's?

are there no other LA's requiring Euro5?

for a "purpose built" vehicle i can 1st plate upto 10 years old, but we have grass and trees so we are carbon neutral

A new driver starting in Epsom and Ewell must have a Euro 5 London taxi .if you are a existing driver you can plate any old
heap and use it as long as you like.

If the cab wasn't first registered in London it cannot go on, only cabs first registered can

How about a 2006 TX2 that was first registered in London and was then registered outside of London. Can it subsequently go back and be re registered in London?
