It's the Biased cock-eyed formulae they use to work out Hybrids MPG, In reality it on Engine Power alone it does a still pretty good 39MPG. It Does only 30Miles on a full charge of leccy, and they assume that you use only cover so many Miles between charges then they add both leccy and Fuel together to get a rather slanted MPG figure. However, if you took off on a 500 mile Journey with no stops then the figure they spout would count for nowt. They'll do anything to try and make Hybrids cars look wonderful..Fact is though you'll only gain from as far as one battery charge will take you, after that your just any other Piston head. |

The engine only drives the car when you boot it, the rest of the time it charges the battery's, so its only ticking over when doing so |

I beg to differ, the Engine drives the car when the battery is flat, the Charging process may be assisted by the Engine or the Kinetic forces generated through braking, but the Battery is not driving the car off an idling Engine. you'd need to have a fully charged battery to cover 30 miles, after that it's engine power only until the next re-charge. Theres a lot of confusion about leccy cars Jaguar WERE gonna fit a gas turbine generator supplying 4 leccy motors Vauxhalls Ampera has a petrol engine that never drives the cars wheels The Tesla is battery only |

Aye..we got em here to, cant get near the School for people in 4x4s they cant drive or even see over the end of it's bonnet. |

The truth of the matter is that car manufacturers are also the worlds biggest engine builders, GM own VM, BMW have a massive engine plant at Hams Hall, Ford.....well... Now WHY would they want a cheap, working leccy car with good range on the market? add in oil companies interests and you can see why there isnt either a 200mpg 5 seat saloon or a 100% leccy car |
