Picked up the LWB Torneo today, drove it back to Plymouth, for the first time ever I had....

...THE ROOM to be comfortable.

Meter and tout light to be fitted Monday afternoon, plate test first thing Tuesday, plate transfer late morning the same day, first fare about lunchtime.

Did you get it from Crewe?

No, the converter is in Clevedon, near Bristol.

We've had a new one from SVC in Crewe, Transit front end converted with under floor ramp, I've had a sit in it and there's plenty of room for me even with the bandit screen fitted.

Well it is a delight.

Some small problems:

Every time I reach forwards I accidentally put the bidet on (the rear wash/wipe) but I will soon get used to avoiding that.

I have bruises on the back of both lower legs because I don't use the integral step - again I'll learn.

The kick out steps were late so were sent to me to be fitted by my garage, wrong brackets so can't fit them until the right ones pitch up.

Had to get extensions for two of the wheelchair restraint straps - for the smaller wheelchairs!

New rear number plate (motorcycle plate) to accommodate the Hackney Plate without drilling holes or trusting to sticky tape, but I knew about that.

Small cost to fit a resistor to blank the circuit for the missing airbag in the removed front passenger seats.

Overall it is brilliant, room for an adult to drive and space in the back means nobody will put their feet on the seats.
The fully grown amongst you are welcome to PM me for details of the provider, I will not be spamming on here.

Yes I can turn it off, but it still comes up as a fault on the dashboard.

The "resistor" has been fitted now, so the problem has gone.

The bomb is disarmed.

Seems the aircon is a bit naff, will have to get it checked - a lot cooler in other Tourneos.

Ford have never been any good where Air Con is concerned, my VW Passat is much colder than the Mondeo even though the Mondeo has just been re-gassed.

Its a large space to cool, but once its been running, and the temp is at the right temp, turn it on and after 2 mins use the recirculate button it cools down quicker

On the new shape Mondeos you don't get the rattle from the tensioner belt, it seems they've sorted the problem out.

Well it is "running", the clutch on the compressor is fine, but it is worse than useless. I suppose that any gas it did have in it is long gone.

So off to the Main Stealer in the week, if they demur then I will go to alternate VAT registered garage and they can do the warranty work.

Today another Tourneo driver was asked to turn off the aircon as the passengers were too cold. My passengers asked if I had some bread, so they could make some toast in the output!

Stop moaning

I bought a new Citroen Relay lwb hiroof van back in 2004, the damn thing spent more time on the AA recovery trucks than working but its worst feature was the handbrake location, on the right hand side of the driver seat by the step, ok in winter but in hot weather and with a driver wearing shorts that handle was just bound to end up up the trouser leg very near various personal bits with the driver dangling mid air.....not a good look trust me
