I would ring the PCO for a starters pack first of all. Then if you have any questions post them on here. But rule number one is stay well clear of Mr GBC.

by starter pack do you mean the private hire driver licensing application pack ?? if yes i got that a while ago ,filled it and sent it. i already received my provisory license. if not please explain because the only "pack" i can find at PCO is this one. i would be glad to stay away from mr GBC if i only knew who the hell he is . i certainly would be happy to learn about " cabbie linguo".

Don't have minicabs anymore friend, but if you want to buy a used licensed private hire, then I would go to here and buy one. http://www.gtccar.co.uk/ Ollie |

What about a nice Vauxhall Astra saloon? I note they are becoming more popular as London Minicabs, and why not? Roomy, stylish, nice stick on ariel with the regulation 'Tesco' bag under it, just what you need on those 'longer' trips to the supermarket and back. Make sure its at least a 'P' reg or older though. Or, like 'Harringey cars' you could get a nice selection of K / L / M reg Previa's, also a classic London Minicab vehicle. Or you could line the pockets of your office boss like Ollie does, and rent a Mercedes for about £200 per week? Regards, GBC. |

Yep, but that G reg Fairway is stripped down and rebuilt every year with new parts, trust me when i say the PCO will not pass anything unless its 110% perfect. And don't forget the Taxi's, especilay the Nissan power unit, were built to last donkeys years, unlike family sallon such as an Astra. |

thanxs for your answers. anyway i guess it is all related to the amount of money you want to initially spend on the car. has anyone got a link to any web page that will explain me al the legual requirement?? i kind of have a lot of stupid questions there... any max mileage? is just having the MOT enough?? what about the body of the car?? do i need to register the car as a minicab and undergo some other checking?? maximum age of the car?? i did send those question to the PCO and am waiting for an answer |
