From looking around it seems if youre looking at the more luxury models in the trade is mainly only Mercedes E class being used as Taxis or Ph and hardly any BMW's or Audi's.

Is it just that the Mercedes are more reliable or, is there more to it?

Looks like even on fear of a hernia they still uprooted it and set it down again here...

I've seen a few Audis used, But I'm thinking that Beamers are just to highly strung and expensive to run or fix to suit the needs of the trade, while Audis are slightly less so....and Yes Mercs are pretty much bullet proof and to lesser extent Volvo S80s were as well.

Yet the Big grand beamers hold there own in the Chauffeur drive side of things..but of course they charge loads more for their services and can afford the chunkier running costs.

As said, top dollar cars at low or even meter rates, doesnt equate, a BMW wheel or radiator or (god forbid) ECU can be three to four figures, whereas a Ford or Skoda (even as a VW part) might cost half as much, the big cars give a feeling of immortality as seen by the guy who almost ran us off the road on the A42 after we had driven 1000 through Spain and France watching what we thought were lunatics!

Why go out and blow 25 large on a decent motor for the knob heads to hurl up in of a weekend night?

Perceived image of quality and luxury perhaps. People are more likely to be seen wanting to get out of a Mercedes when arriving at a hotel/wedding/corporate event etc...regardless of how good the car actually is from the driver's point of view.

I wouldn't put a car on for £30K, I'd have one for personal use but to plate one for hire and reward?? No fuckin way.

Its all relevant

If you could get top dollar rates for "exec" work youd not use a Mondeo nige
