There should be plenty of choice soon with all the converted motorbility vehicles that are being taken back. Check you local car auctions for when they hold ex motorbility sales. Most do.

I'd love to get my hands on a ex motability car, my neighbour has just swapped his, he had Ford Galaxy Titanium for three years, it only had 8,000 miles on the clock. When he took it back to the dealership Ford said it was already sold.

They have sales most days through British Car Auctions.

used to 100's at BCA Measham, usually knocked about ot petrol autos, never saw one with a swivel seat as at £1000 they are worth ripping out IF they ever have one fitted

I would be asking your council why your need one, when virtually no other council does in saloon type vehicles.
And ask them, could they supply a list of vehicles that can now have them fitted.
Email your councilor and ask the above , I bet there would be a lot of head scratching, when the question is asked at a council meeting, what about council in surrounding areas ,bet they don't need them
.

The first question I asked was why do I need this, and a licensing officer just said because it's the rules!

I didn't want to start arguing as it may affect my application!

Thanks

the regs....

Quote:
Type B: Standard Accessible Hackney Carriage: Vehicles with features designed to
make use by disabled people easier but which would only be able to carry a wheelchair
user who can transfer to a HC seat.

This will include some saloon vehicles, estate cars and
MPVs with at least one new priority rotating or swivel seat fitted by an approved
manufacturer/installer.

All vehicles must comply with the relevant type approval for such vehicles.
 European Whole Vehicle Type approval;
 British National Type approval; or
 British Single Vehicle Approval.
 Full European Type Approval for a special purpose wheelchair accessible
vehicle
It is also recommended that vehicles with Euro NCAP star ratings of four or more should
be considered when purchasing a new vehicle.

Plate private hire, no seat reqd

If your private hire as wanna says no seat required

Yeah, thanks but I didn't want to miss any Hackney work.

id be tempted to look at some other LA, especially if your after a speedy start .

otherwise go and talk to the local Hack drivers in the areas , see what they have to say about it and ways around it. needless to say they will have found ways round it.

Go talk to some of the local private hires companys see if they have any for sale, most will have afew hacks on there books

Try asking your council this, now that modern vehicles have airbags and other electric paraphernalia, tucked away, are they willing to put a passengers life at risk by fitting a seat, that may not meet safety standards
