I would go to TDO's links page http://www.taxi-driver.co.uk/links.htm and check out The Taxi Centre and Cab Direct.

The Taxi Centre over the West End My mate just bought a 55 plate old shape Octavia brand new for £9k - 100bhp Turbo model with Electric Windows, Power Steering, CD Player etc etc Comes with 200k Warranty (as long as it's serviced by a bona fide garage) 0141 334 3999 Good car as a workhorse - the warranty is reassuring ( although I would rather have my 2002 Mondeo Ghia X TDCI anyday )

@ bigj555 the new superb is around £79 p/w the guy from taxi centre told me today.. i was going to go for a used vectra or c class but they dont do warrantys on them just the usual 30 day or 1000 mile which is useless if the car starts to cause problems.. 9k for a new octavia isnt bad .. when u say its under powered is it really that bad? im just after a work horse thats not gonna break down and do the job been quoted £49 p/w for that octavia from taxi centre how much did the superb set u back mate? |

The 100bhp Octavia isnt that bad - a huge difference over the SDI version (non Turbo) Bear in mind the Superb is a lardy big car - the Octavia is far lighter (and thus can use the 100bhp better) Now, 100bhp in a Superb is underpowered (I even think the 130 in the Superb is underpowered - hence why they are thirsty - 2.5 v6 is the best Superb in my view - would handle the weight far better especially for chauffer work) |

Minor point - I think they're phasing out the 130 bhp Superb in favour of the 140 bhp VAG unit. Anyway, I think the 130 bhp unit may have been a bit underpowered, but surely not nearly as thirsty as the V6? |

Glasgow City Council operates a policy for the minimum criteria of vehicles to be licensed. The criteria are that the vehicle must be of an approved type (see note C below); the vehicle’s date of registration is less than five years before the date on which the application for a licence or substitution of a vehicle is made, unless that vehicle has been licensed by the Council within the previous twelve months; the minimum standards for vehicles are 1) engine size of 1600cc; 2) 4 doors; 3) 4 passenger seats; 4) each seat pad is 16” in width, or in the case of a bench seat, 48”/122cm; 5) steering wheel must be fitted to the offside of the vehicle at point of manufacture; 6) body of the vehicle must be of a fixed head type (not convertible); 7) anti lock braking system; driver and front passenger air bags; 9) 3 point seat belts for all seats; 10) side impact bars or suitable equivalent; 11) no steps within the passenger compartment; 12)no more than a 16” uninterrupted step from the outside of the vehicle to the inside; 13) windows that permit the passengers and driver to be clearly viewed from outside the vehicle; 14) no re-registered vehicles; and 15) M1 Whole Vehicle type approval.
i cant beleive that i should have checked but was in a rush so put down a holding deposit on the dam car ..it was the only one they had everything was perfect .. i had a quick look on my way home im sure there isnt a passenger airbag .. its a 52 plate with no passenger airbag ive seen older cars with them ! must have been a optional extra
