We have a bit of a problem with the wheel bolds coming loose on the front nearside wheel of one of our Zafiras. Any idea why this should happen?

Try a new set of bolts, tapered shoulders may not be be biting or threads may be worn.

We have had the threads checked at the main dealer and they have fitted them the last 2 times that it has happened.
I can only think of 2 ways fir them to come undone. !st way is that someone is deliberately loosening them and 2nd, driving to fast into corners.

Alloys ?
After changing an alloy wheel you should re-check the bolts after 20-30 miles as the expansion difference between the alloy wheel and steel bolts can loosen them.
Also tighten to the correct torque setting.

Non-alloy or coming loose all the time, maybe not tightened up enough in the first place ?
Just the one front wheel ? Are the bolts the same as on all the other wheels, might be the wrong ones ?

And clutching at straws a bit but are the brakes binding on that one wheel ? The extra heat might be causing the bolts/wheel to expand more than it should.

It is just the one wheel and the bolts are correct and they are torqued up the same on all 4 wheels. We have had this on another Zafira a while ago. I am going to try a bit of thread lock to see if that helps. failing that I have a son with a welder.

back in the good old days when i was a parts rep for York trailers driving my 7.5t full of parts around the midlands i was having a mug of tea (proper greasy workshop mug) at a firm who transported forklifts across Europe when 2 fitters ran in, grabbing trolley jacks and tool boxes loading up a pickup truck... i asked what the panic was

"trucks stuck with a trailer axle problem"

I asked where it was....

"Geneva"

Last time they called out DAF-aid they welded an axle nut on, it cost £2000 to fit a new axle beam...
