The TX .. I was looking at yesterday had a 3cyl volvo petrol engine that just recharged the battery,,,,,,Oh...and body is composite so no rust.

NO, it doesn’t have any other power source. It 100% electric.

NO, it doesn’t have any other power source. It 100% electric.

I can’t see them selling any as a taxi.

I’m off to test drive the TXe at Manchester on Tuesday with the intention of leasing one through their pcp offer. It’s three years free servicing and three years 120,000 mile warranty ( 5 years on the batteries) for an extra £4 per week you can up the whole warranty to 5 years as well.

The Txe is probably best to lease if you are going to try one cos they just won't say how much a new battery is

That’s the thing, I’m due for a change. The Vito @ £46,000 + isn’t an option ( no better off on fuel than my current Vito, and the DPF’s are already playing up on the new ones, dumping derv into the sump!) hate the transit, likewise the Renault/Vauxhall.
Leasing the TXe is around £180 a week but if I save £80 in fuel £100 p/w with 5 years warranty is worth considering.

Well, had an extended text drive in the TXe today. (45 mins +) was really impressed with how it drove. Very smooth, eerily quiet and very strange driving without any gear changes at all. It does get a little louder with the range extender running (it runs between 1500 and 3000 rpm depending on the power the electric motor needs) was less impressed with the intercom, it kept cutting in and out. Apparently it’s a software glitch that affects the early models. There was also an engine management light on constantly, again, a software glitch ???.

I think I’ll stick with the Vito for another year or so and see how they perform with a bit of mileage on them. There’s also the Metrocab and Nissan Dynamo to think about. I’m in no rush. :doubt:

I think you’re getting confused again grandad, we were talking about the eVito which doesn’t have a range extender.

I asked Manchester LETC for the price of a new battery and they came back stating '£177 plus vat,which is more like it!
