Yes, Private hire have to have the Council test and Hackney have to have the Council test AND an MOT.

So you're saying a brand new car has to be council-tested, but it would also need an MoT to be plated as HC, but no MoT required for the *same* motor if it's plated PH? :-s

Know of several people in trade who licensed brand new vehicles which failed their first test.

It must be good watching the tester test an electric vehicle they might never have seen before, scratching their heads wondering what part does what , :D :lol:

The test here is basically an MOT. I wonder where they put the emissions pipe?
