Yes Geoff. They tell lies. Big ones. Wouldnt deal with them again for anything.

Buy off your local main dealer. You will get a better deal and you will also get back-up and warranty support from them.

All I got from Cab King was a plethora of llies and the wrong vehicle. I did (eventually) get a big cheque back from them. But it simply wasn't worth the grief.

They told me Voyager were converting my vehicle, even gave me progress reports. It was all lies. Voyager never even set eyes on it.

If you are buying a conversion Geoff. I still think the best bet is Voyager or Jubillee (if you can get one).

Cab Direct deliver too, but it depends what you want I suppose.

Everything I have ever ordered from Jubilee has been delivered, and faults have been rectified. The problem I found with them, was actually getting a delivery date. But at least when we got them it was as promised.

Had serious problems with aftersales support on product obtained from Williams Cablease/Peytons, with the manufacturer not supporting the warranty because technically, their cars were secondhand as they were bought from the manufacturers on fleet purchase schemes rather than via main dealer procedure.

But the most serious problem was with Cab King. Come the death, I got totally the wrong vehicle, but had to put up with it, as I needed it for a contract starting on the Monday. I ordered a top spec motor and ended up with a heap of crap.

The central locking was a micky mouse after-market gadget that has never worked properly. The air-conditioning was again retro-fitted and wired in wrongly without even a switch!. The top-spec Hackney ordered ended up being delivered as a friggin van. Cab King couldnt even be bothered to fit any bloody seats in it. And the list just goes on and on.

I am still rowing with DVLC at Swansea trying to get a log book for it as the one they sent me applied to a totally different vehicle.

I have had it since September last year, and my local main dealer has only just finished getting all the parts swapped over to proper manufacturers parts to re-validate the ruddy warranty. I reckon by the time it is up to the spec I wanted, it will have cost me not far short of £40,000. Thats around £12,000 more than Cab King quoted on it.

Example, I ordered V-220 trim. They said plus £300. And supplied NO trim at all. The bloody thing was bare metal inside. It has cost me £1,100 to have it trimed with the proper Merc stuff.

I oreder a 9-seater. I only got 8. And three of those (believe this?) were secondhand from another one they had on the forecourt, and we even had to fit those ourselves.

The place is a bloody fiasco. Leave them well alone Geoff.

If Peyton';s builder is Voyager, then why not buy direct from Voyager?

A lot of people go to Fowlers and Peytons and places because of their finance deals. But really, you can buy anywhere, as you can go direct to companies like Reliance (RFC) who advertise in the trade mags and get just as good a deal. RFC will even finance owner-driver to owner-driver deals.

What would be the problem with buying your vehicle from your local main dealer who you know and trust and will look after it for you, and then getting Voyager (who are also known to have the skills and quality) to convert it for you?

I have never done this, but its a thought worth investigating I think.

What do you say July?

I have bought a car from the 'Taxi Center' in the past, and have had no problem whatsoever with them.

Never tried Cab-King, but I have heard their large fries are nice. :D

With reference to Cab King, I have never dealt with them, but I note in this month's PHM, they have a 3 year old TX that has only done 16,000 miles.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :?
