New taxis will ease access for disabled DISABLED passengers will benefit from two brand new taxis which can winch wheelchairs into the cars without the need for lifting. The £20,000 Fiat Doblos also feature high ceilings, tinted windows for increased comfort and privacy, and seating for a further two passengers. They can also be used as regular four-seater taxis. Chris Hawkins, chair of the Welwyn Owner Drivers' Association, flew up to Glasgow with colleague Steve Barlow to pick up the new vehicles. He said: "Wheelchair accessible taxis have been involved in wheelchair work for five years and hopefully these new taxis will provide a service that the customers enjoy. "The vehicles are also useful for people who have had hip replacements, because they are quite low and they can sit down before they swing their legs in." The company now has three wheelchair-accessible vehicles in all, although there are other cars that can accommodate disabled passengers. |

Rumour going about that Dundee council thinking of stopping the issue of plates for the Dublo. Reckon that when you need to replace this vehicle, there will only be four to choose from,TX11,E7,European and the Citreon despatch. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Home rool fur hulltoon |

I think the 20,000 is for the two of them. A bargain in my opinion. ![]() |
