Hi All,

Just bought a Cygnus MR400 for a bit of fun, few questions though;

1. I have seen the answer to this question somewhere on the internet, however I cannot find it again! What is the amount of pulses per mile it should be reading on my Fairway Driver '94? Around 8200?

2. Is there any reference document which has all the tariff codes listed on it? This meter has been programmed with 15065.

3. If I wanted to get the meter reprogrammed to the London Tariff, how easy is it to do? Is my only option to take it to a dealer? I've had the taximeter seal off, and seen the 8 pin connector, presumably for a key/chip.

Thanks very much in advance.

Why would you buy a meter for a bit of fun?

If you are masquerading as a licensed taxi ( and you are not) then you could land up in prison.

I'm not masquerading as a taxi - I have another job...

Just fascinated with the fairway, and wanted to make it as authentic as possible!

The meter will need calibrated to the cab it is fitted to.
Tariff needs to be injected with the appropriate chip, usually only available to the Cygnus agent.

Why bother if it's only for show? So long as it lights up and the numbers go round, who cares?

Fair point, I guess I have a bit of an obsession with detail when it comes down to restoring things - the Fairway I bought has the london tarrif page in the usual place on the passenger door, it'd just make it perfect if it matched up!

if you have it fitted and calibrated will you have the tariff set at the card rate or today's rate?

The card is up-to-date (as of April 2013), but would dealers just have chips for existing tariffs set down by councils, or could you request features, such as non-calendar tariffs e.t.c?

I would guess each would have the up to date tariffs for the areas they deal with. Some might have an old chip lying around, I suppose. TBH you'd need to ask one of them.
