Hi,

Noticed today that there is abit of black smoke coming out the exhaust when accelerating. Its fine on tickover! I only ever drive about 10 miles around town each day. Mine has the euro 3 emissions on it.

Is this normal for these fairways to chuck abit of black smoke out when accelerating? Can anyone recommend a diesel additive ? Would a motorway run clear it out?

Lots of short trips and you get a lot of soot in exhaust, wouldnt do any harm to give it a blast up and down motorway.

Or get the EGR blanked off with a 20 pence blank

Couple of good tips there. I normally give mine a good spanking before the MOT,bouncing along at 70 for a few minutes blows a load of junk out of the exhaust.

I am probably sounding thick, but where is the EGR ? Also where can I buy the blank from?

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Depends what emission kit it has on it,theres no egr on some.If you did want to blank it of youd just make a blank out of a old can of pop.
