if we had implemented the use of Methane as a running mate with petrol it would have stretched out the petrol supply but waiting till the petrol has gone will mean its pointless

crude oil can be processed into EITHER petrol or diesel, not both, but the UK refineries cant produce enough diesel, when built back in the 60's no-one wanted diesel except trucks, buses and London cabs, now EVERYONE wants a diesel car so we have to import crude oil AND processed diesel

You dont have to be Sherlock to work out thats only gonna end one way and petrol cars will then become wanted again
