I wonder how often it was done when licensed.
And how often do you check the clearance now when the cab is retired?

Allegedly they are hydraulic, so an engine flush every so many years and good oil will keep everything working

I was hoping that might be the case =D> =D> I read somewhere a while back that the valve clearance were checked & adjusted every 6 months, but couldn't remember which engine it referred to...

Location: Used to be in Lowestoft,now escaped.
They have adjusters,they are not hydraulic.

Depends what engine, Nissan hydraulic, bmc adjusters

Location: Used to be in Lowestoft,now escaped.
The Nissan 2.7 has valve clearance adjusters (tappets). The valve clearances have to be set,they are not hydraulic or self adjusting.. Normally about every 20,000 miles will do.

Got to be honest,never touch mine,the 2.7 seems pretty indestructible ! I have in the past when one sounded rough.

Agreed,once set they pretty much stay that way.My old foreman used to say he worried when he couldn't hear the tappets on any car,it meant the valve clearances were closing.
