 Post subject: TX4 throttle/fuel issue

Hi folks, hope everyone is good. I have a 2009 TX4 and it keeps dropping power. If I easy off throttle and reapply power comes back. Its worse when cold but can happen any time. Not sure whats causing it. It doesn’t run rough, its just like its going to neutral for a moment and then power is back. Does anyone have any ideas?

My first thoughts would be to check air/fuel filters and hoses, gearbox fluid level or maybe crankshaft sensor.

Any dash lights, exhaust smoke or problems with starting?

Thanks, no dash lights, emissions seem ok. It starts fine. Gearbox oil seems ok. I have’t checked the fuel filter. Not sure where crankcase sensor is but will look into that. Thanks

Should be a spin-on canister for a 2009, about £15. If you replace it don't rev it hard after starting - let it idle for a bit to make sure fuels going through.

No EML light = probably no error code.

Look for cheap/obvious first - something leaking or broken or what are you doing when it happens.

To me, revs dropping would say engine side - revs climbing but no power would say gearbox.

Thanks for advice

Noticed today that when it gappens its like its going to idle while I have throttle on, it won’t pick up again if I depress throttle more also not revving like its out of gear either just ticking over, but if I come off the throttle and re apply it come back to normal and drives normally, it is completely intermittent doesn’t seem to be a a particularly speed revs or if hot ir cold.

Check the plug at the top of the throttle pedal ^ isn't loose or damaged.

At that age, the throttle position sensor might have gone bad - I'd maybe try swapping it for a second-hand and see if that fixes it. They're pretty cheap.
