my 09 E7 flywheel is rattling , done 115k so can't grumble too much, just called cabdirect who was selling them On offer for £320+vat but now say the offer has ended and want closer to £500 for them.


Anyone know where I can get it cheaper than that?

115,000 and needs, not a clutch, but a part that in days of old wasnt a service part, just a lump of iron?

the whole DMF/CSC package is a disgrace, manufacturers can limit torque via software, but if they cant handle the torque of newer engines whats the point of having it?

see if you can get a solid flywheel or a sachs planetary type DMF, a much better design than the LUK generally sold

Read what you are saying, and not at all very tech minded, I see so many agree with what your saying, but also see others saying that a duel mass is better. No idea what to do for the best, I drive a taxi, I want to continue to drive it, at the cheapest possible way, while also giving the best possible passenger comfort possible.

My E7 is still going, but is sounding like the flywheel is knackered- so I am told by a old taxi driver, I have no idea, I drive the thing and am happy doing it, but need to keep one step ahead of any possible problems.

Can you use a solid flywheel in them?? If so there's a place in Nottingham where we get our Mondeo clutches from, I don't know the address off hand but I can get it for you tomorrow.

Solid flywheel and clutch, a quarter of the price of a DMF
Had mine replaced 130,000 miles ago to the solid system, and just had a new clutch last week £289 fitted
would not have needed one if the clutch master cylinder had not gone and spilt the fluid all over the gearbox

noises...

if its there all the time almost and sounds like a bag of spanners in a dustbin being kicked down the road (metal dustbin) i.e. irregular = DMF

if its regular, and raising the tickover to 1200rpm (or stickingi n a can of Forte treatment) takes the noise away, its an injector "out of range" of the ECU ant-knock software

the DMF and injector noises ive heard are totally different once youve heard the 2

thats the CSC (concentric slave cylinder) mounted INSIDE the bell housing, what a good idea, id like to meet the guy who dreamt that one up

CSC knackers up - bill = (cos youd fit a dmf and clutch) - £600-£1200

old type slave cylinder knackers up = £5 for a seal kit or £20 for the whole part held on by 2 bolts

It was not the slave cylinder it was the clutch master cylinder that is placed directly above the bell housing, both are outside the box
Pedal kept on sticking to the floor when it went after 170,000

Well got a clutch and flywheel for £409 inc vat from europarts and someone is fitting it tomorrow for £150 so not too bad I guess, and yes its a duel mass, but I don't expect to keep the car for another 120k miles.

not too bad?....

i bet the CLUTCH would have done another 100k....

i got a clutch and flywheel for £325 delivered! that was for a new syle fiat scudo (08)
cheapest as far as i know!

Sachs do a dmf of better design than the std LUK item
