It seems like my egr valve has gone again having only recently been replaced under my mechanics warranty. Is the replacement part under warranty?,my mechanic says not, otherwise it could go on forever!.

Something is killing your EGR valve. Sounds like it needs a closer look.

If it's an E7 then the only thing killing the EGR is the sh!t EGR design. The end of the valve is just held on by a spot weld which eventually breaks and the end of the valve falls off. They have made no effort to rectify this as they're making a fortune out of selling/fitting EGRs at £240 + fitting ie approx £300. Next time mine goes I'm gonna have a go at repairing it, got nuthin to loose.

It seems odd that this time it's only lasted about 3k. The new garage is looking into it.I actually got a weekend in before it went, that's a first!

the garage should remove the EGR and return it to their supplier, its faulty

labour charges MIGHT be reclaimed off the parts supplier, it depends

Won't the EML on the dash still be lit when it's blanked off causing a test fail???

I had one that only lasted 5k miles, was returned to Allied and I got full refund of part cost but not labour cost. Had to pay that again myself.
Just out of interest.....was it the end of the valve that broke off???

Yes it was egr,yes it was the crappy end that had broke off.the new mechanic says it may not have been programmed,he's sure that the previous mechanic does not have the tech to have done.but its all speculation.he mentioned that there has been an upgrade on the pug program which may indicate they knew something was wrong.because it is all speculation I can't see me getting any money back.I'm not very good at being bolshi anyway,I'd rather move on.
