Yes on the whole group, when you replace the belt and tension-er it puts extra pressure on the water pump so the blades disintegrate so for piece of mind change to the metal one when you get the belt changed

Invasion of the Cherrypickers

Casey wrote last year of his great fear that the great border city would soon see cherry-picking. Sadly, but unsurprisingly these predictions seem to have came to fruition during Radio 1’s ‘Big Weekend’ held in Carlisle during May.

It has been alleged from various drivers within Carlisle that certain people were refusing to move from taxi ranks unless fares of between £35 & £40 were paid ‘up front’. It has also been alleged that in certain cases, local fares (the meat and drink of any taxi) were refused. To put this into perspective, a daytime fare from the City to the Airport is approximately £15; waiting time is 20p per minute (£12 per hour). It has additionally been alleged that the return fares (from the airport to the city) were also cherrypicked, with fares going short of the City allegedly refused.

Ironically it would appear the Cherrypickers are of the opinion the practice was allowed, specifically referring to a letter received from the City Council in the days prior to the event. Carlisle tourism partnership suggested: ‘a flat-rate fare for one-way and return’ Unfortunately, Carlisle Tourism Partnership know as much about taxi law as they appear to know about tourism. Sufficed to state, if the allegations are correct the drivers concerned have committed various illegal acts, these include:
Section 53 offences in refusing to take fares (£500 fine level 2 offence), Section 55 offences by making agreements with customers to accept more than the permitted fare (£1000 fine level 3 + 1 month imprisonment) and the catch all of section 58 charging more than the amount that should be on the meter (£1000 fine level 3 offence).

Drivers in the City were apparently appalled by the lack of co-operation offered from both the police and private security firm employed by the event organisers, the latter of whom according to one driver refused to allow him to pick up a wheelchair bound passenger. The former tried to organise rank marshalling on the Sunday evening, to which it is alleged a five year old would have done a better job.

The talk amongst the trade in Carlisle is of one massive conspiracy between the event organisers and the bus company drafted in to cover the event. In short, taxi facilities were appalling with absolutely no consultation between the event organisers and the local taxi association. Roads and exits were closed without reason, or more importantly without traffic orders by security staff.

Whilst the local press, media and indeed the propaganda departments of local government can polish the event up as much as they like, there is a distinct anger within the cab trade of Carlisle with the way in which they were treated throughout the two days. Indeed, the local taxi association allege they were not involved at any stage during the organisation, hence the disregard towards the much coveted and forgotten ‘integral part of the transport system’. If rumours are to also be believed, drivers of the firm which had the account for the BBC were equally ‘non plussed’ about the arrangement. They were allegedly refused access to certain parts of the airport to pick up staff. Taxis when five minutes late were often refused. Staff, in general, treated them with distain.

This time you have my sympathy a bit - I am on my fourth starter motor.

But I'm off the road because a gear cable has snapped - all across the town in second - left it at the garage who will sort it Monday.

Luckily enough someone sent some important letter for me to consider. So my considering hat is on.

Superb battery is so women and pansies don't buy one, it's the Yorkie Bar of cars, it's easy enough to get at, you just lift the scuttle panel and detatch the rubber wiring loom, then the man up job is to lift it out sideways in a position that naturally isn't natural, only real fellas can achieve this feat of dead weight lifting.

Superb knocks the socks off anything else comparitable, proper blokes car, you have to take control of it or it's gonna put you in the ditch real easy, once mastered though she becomes like a Thai bride.
