I would think that was a fuel problem..... and I would change the fuel filter and also drop the fuel filter that fit's into the bottom of your fuel tank.... and make sure that it is clean.... your cab is definitely talking to you...

Going along the motorway in my trusty TX1 I suddenly got a sound like a wooden spoon banging in a tin can for about 5 knocks (10 seconds if that). The noise came from next to my left foot area (or sounded like that). A big cloud of whitish smoke came out the back. I continued with the journey and the engine preformed as usual no increase in water temperate or lack of power. Any ideas to put my mind at rest? Sticky injector (what's that?) ? Dirty diesel (only use Shell,maybe BP)? |

capt, i'm having a similar experience with my TX1 which i'm driving this week whilst i prepare it for overhaul. As i drive along i feel like a tapping under my foot, like something is loose and is flapping against the floorpan. I spoke to my mechanic and he thinks it may well be where the bodywork has moved or settled itself off the chassis! He had to do some welding under the rear left seat and again suggested it was where the left side of the cab has dropped slightly and the bodywork is now rubbing against the chassis causing it wear through. That would explain why the right side has lifted slightly and is now vibrating against the chassis causing the tapping effect. The solution it seems is to unbolt the bodywork from the chassis, jack up the bodywork and put some packing inbetween the 2 before re-bolting it all together............ Not sure about the smoke though. |

Went to my garage today and as I told them my story the mechanics started nodding their heads knowingly. 'Dirty diesel - sticky injector'. 'What should a do?' 'Nothing unless it become a common problem - maybe use a diesel additive that cleans the injectors and pump etc' 'And cleaning the filters?' 'Next service (next month)' 'What about cleaning the fuel filter in the tank?' 'No unless the problem persists'. I hope that answers all questions you may have. |
