what engine is it, 2.4 ford duratorq?

what year?

you will see "haze" at night behind you, theres no escaping that, its the particles in your exhaust, you see it more than anyone following (plus your getting a wee bit paranoid over it) - get a mate to drive it while you follow, see whats there

have you any "wooshing" noise?

a common fault is a split turbo boost hose on 2.0 duratorqs, and will increase any smoke

(just for a start)

is your MPG suffering?

I get that.

Apparantly most do it, mines fine.

I think any diesel at night looks bad in headlights, it shows up all the sheeite, obviously its worse in the winter when it's cold outside and very hot in your engine! :D

Diesels run cold compared to petrol engines, even though they need 20+ to one compression
