My fairways engine has developed a noise like a slack valve clearance but only when hot.
It isn't the valves but seems to come from inside the engine somewhere,It's not loud and the performance hasn't been affected.
Any ideas?.

Recheck your rockers and make sure that one has not worn itself-away in the centre..... after that.... the Nissan head has a habit of dropping the expansion chambers out of the head into the cylinder.... but first they tick away and sound like a noisy tappet... as they gradually work themselves looser before they drop.... them boom engine knackered

Yes, but if that's the problem & he catches it in time, it could save him a fortune.

Thanks for the replies especially MrT.
I found the rear injector was loose and after taking it out, cleaning everything up an replacing the sealing washer it seems the noise has gone.
I much appreciate the information re the chambers coming lose in the heads, fingers crossed that doesn't happen!.
