Post subject:  Drive shaft problem - TX1

I recently had the rear leaf springs changed on both sides.

Soon after, I started hearing a loud sound, usually loud when in 4th or 5th gear and between 30~40mph but the sound is alot less when driving at 50mph or over. The sound is like a jet turbine and is really annoying.

I take it the drive shaft is wearing out? Has this sudden problem got anything to do with getting the springs changed?

How much does a TX1 drive shaft usually cost or is there a simpler way to fix this without a replacement part?

I think I paid around £150 (fitted) for a pattern on on my TX1 in 2006.

Have a look on this site, I've found them to be good on prices and service.

Was the diff wrecked by the changing of the leaf springs?

What's the "going rate (£)" of getting a diff + fitting in Manchester?

Yes, the cab is definitely noiser at the back, in the whole passenger section. Same jet turbine like sound.

Wasn't like this before I had the springs changed.

pattern parts and there the wrong springs seen this just recently while at the garage,is your motor sitting slightly higher ?

cant remember exactly what the problem was (slight difference in linkages i think)but it ended up knocking the angle of the shaft off,and you could clearly hear the diff grinding
