He's not talking about your FX3, he's got a Fairway.

My last Fairway H898, had a better fuel return than the TX1 I subsequently purchased, or the current TX2 I now own.

What did they know about fuel economy in 1989, that they did'nt in 2005?

The TX4 is meant to be the worse one yet!

well my old montego TD did as much mpg as my 2006 tdci mondeo, without all the mickey-mouse electronics, £150 injectors, £100 software updates, and i could turn the pump down for its MOT...

Series 1,2.3 Metrocab - 25 mpg (pre euro 3 upgrade)
LTI fairway - 22 mpg
TX1 - as above (same engine)
TX2 - 18-20 ish mpg
TX4 - 17 mpg
TTT Metrocab - 18-20 mpg

all above figures for London central work only & are aprox figures. (spoke to one TX4 owner who reported a return of 28 mpg from his)

In Lowestoft its never as congested as inner London (although the traffic jams round the bridge are legendary) but my fairway returns just over 25mpg driving round town.On runs it seems to do well over 30 .It seems as though those are the sort of figures that should be obtained.Looking at the figures for the replacements it looks as though economy hasn't improved much,if anything its got worse.

Thirty five miles to a gallon is pretty good I'd have thought.
I'm going to try a few things to see if I can improve mine,I'm having to commute to work for a few weeks and its a daer hobby with the ludicrous cost of fuel. I can remember when you could buy three gallons for a quid,now that doesn't even buy a litre.
Should keep the tree huggers happy though,if it goes up and more we'll all be walking everywhere in recyled fair trade carbon free shoes.

Blanking off the radiator (with an eye on the temperature gauge) had added a bit to the MPG figure which makes me wonder if the thermostat is on the way out.Replacing the air filter even though it didn't look to bad added a few more.
One thing I thought of trying is a few of the additives,I've not found them that beneficicl before but with a greater daily mileage I might be able to give them a better,more accurate test.

Hi,
On a run at a steady 60mph (gps speed) I get about 37mpg. Around town, not totally sure, been too scared to work it out but a full tank takes me about 180 to 200 miles.
