These two lights came on on my old TX1.

It was the alternator on both occasions.

I got a brand new one on the second occassion, not a re-wind.

I.m having electrical issues on my 2001 TX1, when starting it ocassionally sounds and acts as if the battery is knackered. Then the next time it will be fine, had the battery dropchecked and they said it was fine, newish starter motor and alternator fitted (charging is fine 14. something volts).
When the starter turns slowly, but starts i get the two door open lights on the dash illuminate when i press the brake pedal, which i thought must be a bad earth somewhere, i fitted a new earth strap between the engine block and chassis but this made no differance whatsoever.
Any thoughts on where i should start to look to rectify the problem or anyone had a similar issue? Cheers.

Anyone but England.

connect your earth straight from battery to engine-...... if that makes no difference.... then you either have a faulty battery or faulty starter motor..

Thats far easier than messing about changing and cleaning up earth straps,just clamp on a decent heavy duty jump lead battery earth terminal to engine block.

Thanks for the advice chaps, if the alternator was faulty again surely it wouldn't show a healthy output on the meter? Or could it have an intermident problem? They seem to either work or not, just trying to get to the bottom of this before throwing more money at it or an auto electrician!

It might be a good idea to check the terminals on the battery are clean and tight.If they aren't it can give the symptons you describe.

Quick update! Was a bad battery after all the messing around, had it tested at the supplier and they told me it was ok so took their word for it ( mistake ), not even in warranty so not like i was trying to get a replacement from them! Was showing all the correct readings when stood normally 12.5 v or 14.25 v when charging but when it started sluggishly with another pair of hands on the meter it was dropping to 10.5 v, replacement battery and all is well again, Thanks for the pointers chaps.
