Looking to get my Fairway done. Found a company that will do it for £300. Has anyone had any experience of doing this?

It's easy enough to do yourself and save over a couple of hundred quid.
I use some stuff called Eureka Fluid Film but others use Waxoyl or Dinitrol.Some people claim good results with engine oil or even automatic transmission fluid.
I think though that fairways have loads of built in rust traps and its going to be hard to find and treat all of them.Have a look on the net there are lots of sites that deal with rust proofing and how to do it,Waxoyl even comes in a kit with an applicator/sprayer.Best used on a hot day and thinned down with turps or white spirit so it spreads in all the nooks and crannies.To do a car about the size of a fairway you'll need about a gallon or if its a metric one about 4.55 litres.

i use waxoyl and one thing i found out by accident was when i spilled a bottle of engine oil in the boot of my TX1, i just wiped excess oil off and left the boot with a layer of the oil still on, it never rusted from the top, bottom was a different story though

If you already have rust in the car ( and you probably have) then you can put what ever you like on it...........cos it is not going to make any difference.

You can slow either new rust from starting or existing rust from spreading but you can't stop it for ever.
I live right by the sea and some years back tried out various concoctions on rusty steel left out after treatment and subjected to salty air and spray.The test wasn't very scientific but I found bare panels rust on a scratched painted panel went much deeper than if the panel was left untreated and that plain oil washes off quite quickly if rain can get to it.After welding hundreds of cars I know that underseal is worse than hopeless if it dries and cracks,water gets behind it and rust spreads very quickly.I found a thick greasy mixture worked best but if it got dirty it lost a lot of its water repellant properties.In any real application it needs to be applied mixed with a thinner that will evaporate off,otherwise it doesn't seem to penetrate welds etc.
