Once brought seven Omegas, biggest pile of [edited by admin] ever seen. In the ten months we kept them I never ever had all of them on the road.

One caught fire one day and called for assistance, I said 'knock on the nearest door'

'And ask them to phone for the fire brigade' he responded.

'No, ask if they have any coal'.

We used to have grannies all over the place but their a bit long in the tooth now and theres not many on the secondo hand market but a few are still plodding along as taxis.

There are a few omegas and some of the owners have had one before, so someone likes them even if not mr thumb.

exite your customers to give you the shout,

nice thought though carrying just the toffs
but we have to take joe to the buffs.

areas are different we must get,
that trade thats the better bet,
just hope that we dont finish taking the pitts.

The question should be 'so what's your customers idea of a good executive vehicle then'.

Let me just say we ran Grannies for many years and they were great taxis. Reliable, spacious and cheap to keep on the road. It is totally amazing that Ford has been missing from that sector of the car market for so many years.

The answer you were looking for Dusty is of course E Class Mercedes. I spent many years thinking that I couldn't afford a Merc, wow was I wrong, I now know I can't afford not to.

Fabulous car, solid and reliable but the thing is 'customer perception'. They absolutely fall for the Merc image hook line and sinker. It has Quality stamped all over it.

The E220 has creditable performance and is a very very durable beast, have it with the Tex seating (plastic that looks like leather) and it will last and last.

If you want fantastic performance and ride quality find the extra 5K and have a 320. However it is a bit OTT for purely taxi based work. The 270 falls between the two.

The first of the last model E class we brought new as N reg for 22K. Sold it 5 years later with 320K on the clock and got 8K. Less than 3 K per year and less than 5p per mile.

The problem is you have to be in this game for the long term and willing to put your neck on the line for 5 years.

:D :D :D had an OMEGA on for a year now an no probs at all where else do you get 57 inches across the back seat and more leg room than you could ever reguire and thats 4 up on a long run in total comfort. luv mine to bits

Yes, and the Scorpio was awful as well!!

Of the exec motors offered by Patons and suchlike, the only ones apart from the Omega seems to be the E-class and the Volvo S80.

What do you think of the S80??
