Do I need to replace the whole headlight unit or does the lens come off separately?

Should I fit once of these kits if the lens comes off?

Hi ,
Have fitted just a lens before works out cheaper than whole unit , one tip don't get any dirt or grease on silver reflection part of unit as when you wipe it the silver comes off fairly easy and it will give a distorted beam and fail testing :-(
