Skoda octavia 1.9 tdi (05 plate)

180,000 mile service and timing belt was done and since the flywheel was knocking got it done at the same time. and also the clutch.
when i picked the car up i found the pedal to be soft so went back in to the skoda garage and was told that it was fine.
4000 miles further on, and it was still soft but the problem then was that i found it very difficult to pull away in first gear, the whole car shuddered, the same when manovering in low gear at low speed. so took it back again
this time they had it for two whole days and drove two whole miles to check it out, they still could not find anything wrong.
Another 2000 miles down the road and its still not right.
any ides on whats gone wrong, they are usually fine with any repairs.

Clearly something ain't right, and the garage know it's going to be a long job to rectify it.

Tell them to strip it back down and fit a single flywheel and clutch system, they are a quarter of the price I had mine done over 100,000 miles ago and its still going strong,
Its a possibility that they did not bleed the clutch or the slave cylinder is on the way out
Take it to another dealer and get them to check it try a VW or Seat one as they use exactly the same parts
Did you get them to fit a metal water pump when they fitted the new belt if not get it changed to one as the original one is made of plastic and will disintegrate under the new belt tension

contaminated fuel = a compo bill

see if you can find any others who had the same, it must be water in the tanks, get trading standards out, if its a big oil company (BP/ESSO/SHELL,etc) find thier customer services and kick off

you HAVE got some fuel reciepts i assume?
