Could somebody show me what a healthy, well maintained TX1 should look like under the bonnet and underneath etc? Also if anyone has any engine schematics etc I'd be very grateful if I could have a gander at them. I have a TX1 and I'm just curious to see what "good" should look like so that I can give it a bit of TLC before it goes out to work

Also if somebody could tell me where the other end of the air cleaner pipe (pictured) is supposed to go I'd be v grateful

The underbonnet looks pretty much the same as my fairway. The air cleaner pipe should go on a fixing next to the radiator to draw in cold air. |

My air cleaner pipe is about half that length and full of holes! I've bought a new one but there doesn't seem to be anything down there for it. There's no clip for it on the battery housing either. I may end up having to fashion something for it myself MacGyver style 
If ever you get a chance could you show me yours? |

We don't put the air filter pipe in its original position... we get it as hire up as possible... the reason we do this.... is that we have had problems in heavy rain.... when the cab has gone through a large puddle it sucks up the water.... and causes the engine to hydraulic.... |

An engine developes more power if it sucks in cold air from outside rather than warm air from under the bonnet. On a fairway this can knock a bit off the 0 to 60 time. It'll bring it down to just under a week. |

Hmm maybe I'll fix it up so it's a compromise between the two. I'd rather have a bit less power than an engine full of rain water though

You could always buy one of those snorkels they fit to land rovers

In case there is confusion.... I did not mean make the air intake hose smaller... just re-route it. |
