I thought all seats were broadly the same.....you just need to affix it to the base of the tx's big metal thingy.....(technical I know)....MrT is the man to answer.

er, not quite

and being in the process of cross-fitting id suggest careful measurements - mainly of the runner width, 18" into 12" will NOT go
as ive found out

Hello,

I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread about seats. I have purchased a Fairways FX4 M reg, and since it's for private use only, I'd like to install a co-driver's seat. I had the idea of taking the current driver's seat out, re-install it as a co-driver's seat, and get a more comfortable one for myself in.

My questions:

1. Do you think that is a good idea? Does the current driver's seat even fit in there (61 cm slong, 54 cms wide)? Most of the time, my fiancé will be sitting there, and lucky me, she is not of the tall kind :D

2. What spare seat models, possibly from breakers or eBay, would fit in there (driver's/co-driver's side)? I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on a completely new seat.

I am hoping that it is acceptable for a private driver of a former cab to ask questions in here - it is quite difficult to get good advice these days.

I am not sure of the implications of just putting another seat in the vehicle. You may need to get it re classed. You would definatly need to tell your insurance company because it will be a modification. is the car fitted with the correct seat belt anchor points because it was not made to have a seat in that position?

As far as I know, as long as the cab remains a private car, there is no re-classification necessary. However, as you pointed out, the insurance needs to be told that there would be a modification. Co-drivers seats have been installed before, but they were merely flip-down seats like the ones in the back. I was hoping for ideas which seat models would fit into those dimensions on the co-drivers side.

You could fit a drivers seat into the passenger side if you wanted , just bolt it straight through the floor,we have seats in the front here but only the flip down type, bolted through the centre partition .Be warned not much room in passenger side !

True, but luckily I was rewarded with a tiny fiancé :D I am currently looking for a garage in the SE which would be able to do that for me.

So is it just a bolt on upgrade ? I think I know where there is a set of Scorpio heated electric leathers seats going very cheap. I could make a loom to get the electrics to work but if the seat does not bolt to the TX base its a non starter for me.
